33rd Hockey East Championship Showcases Collegiate Talent

The 33rd edition of the Hockey East Championship returns to TD Garden in Boston on March 17-18 for this exciting tournament.

Winners of the semifinals on Friday will advance to the Hockey East title game, set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, to determine the winner of the 2017 Lamoriello Trophy.

It should be a great weekend of hockey, considering for the first time ever, Hockey East crowned regular season tri-champions, as UMass Lowell, Boston University and Boston College each amassed 29 points in league play.

UMass Lowell clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Hockey East tournament. BU slides into the No. 2 seed, while BC comes in at No. 3.

All 12 teams from the Hockey East Association qualify for the 2017 Hockey East tournament, which begins this week with the opening round and quarterfinals, which leads up to the main event March 17-18 in Boston.

The winner of the Hockey East Championship Tournament will earn an automatic berth into the 70th annual NCAA men’s ice hockey championship tournament and have a chance to reach the 2017 NCAA Frozen Four held in Chicago.

Northeastern is the defending 2016 Hockey East Tournament Champion, while UConn looks to advance past the opening round for the first time in program history.
