The Magic behind World of Color

Maintenance on World of Color show the many water cannons that make the show possible at Disney California Adventure.

As part of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney premiered on May 22nd, 2015 with Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse narrating. But behind the new show that features clips from Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Disney’s Frozen to classic Disneyland rides, there are about 1,200 fountains that can jet water up to 200 feet into the air, and that’s only one part of the magic. There are mist screens where videos get projected, flame effects that are launched up to 50 feet in the air, fog machines, lasers, and more. Even the light effects of Mickey’s Fun Wheel and California Screamin’ are all choreographed into a water, fire, and light spectacular that has no comparison.

It’s really amazing to see how much goes in to this production. If you are lucky enough to see maintenance on the show’s effects, you’ll see an army of water cannons and LED lights rise above Paradise Bay. The view is almost as impressive as the show… I thought at least.  Best bet to get the most of the show though is to get Fastpasses, so you can enter one of the viewing areas. Another option is Ariel’s Grotto. That’s where I got to witness the show’s water shooters close up. At Ariel’s Grotto, there’s a bunch of outdoor seating that’ll make for a perfect and relaxed viewing area for the show. Check out the new show now at Disney California Adventure with tickets from TicketsatWork.com!
